What does this tell you?

As Democrats struggle to decide if they are going to subject themselves and their staff to Obamacare, it is worthy of note:

The senate proposed a bill making the special treatment for lawmakers and their staff illegal.  Ok?

EVERY SINGLE REPUBLICAN VOTED FOR THE BILL TO TAKE AWAY THE SPECIAL TREATMENT

EVERY SINGLE DEMOCRAT VOTED AGAINST THE BILL.

Every democrat believes that the law is good enough for you, but not for them.  They are going to shove it down our throats, but aren't willing to have Obamacare for themselves.

They want special treatment.  They don't want to live by the very laws that they pass.

Unbelievable.

What does that tell you about Democrats and Obamacare?

Whew! Now we know!

Thank goodness Obama has FINALLY cleared up this messy little problem of the disaster that is his signature legislation, Obamacare.

IT'S THE REPUBLICAN GOVERNORS' FAULT!

Again, I am so happy to finally know where the fault lies.  If only those evil Republican governors would drink that stinkin' Kool-Aid and get it line, this whole mess would go away.

Yeah, right.

I live in a state with a Republican governor.  He has made this state so prosperous that the effects of Obama have actually been stifled, a little.  I have said all along that our Republican governor actually helped Obama win in 2012.

He was elected in 2010, he cut government spending, he cut government waste, he has brought jobs to the state because he believes in the free market.  Our state currently has a surplus in our "rainy day" fund.  His next idea?  Give that money back to us in the form of tax relief.

See?  He has made it so much better that people weren't really feeling the effects of Obama's disastrous policies yet and that helped him win.  I mean it.

Republican governors, stand your ground.  Don't give an inch.

Right now, for those of us lucky enough to have a Republican governor, send a thank you card.

They are saving us.

Someone needs some parenting

I am home with my kids.  Oh, yeah, you know that.  It says it right up there.

I find myself calling a lot of the childish things my children do "Obama-like."

When I hear a loud crash, coming running and both children are pointing at each other saying, "She did it!"  My first response is, "Oh, no, you are not going to pull an Obama!  Who did it?"

When they say things that couldn't possibly be true due to the laws of physics, I find myself saying, "Nuh, huh, you are not going to Obama me on this one."  Then, I explain the importance of always being truthful.

We are doing a fundraiser for one of their activities.  When someone uses the fundraiser cash without writing out a check to replace it, we call that "Obama-ing" the money.

I find myself constantly teaching my children to do exactly the opposite of the leader of the free world.  I teach them to take responsibility for their actions, to tell the truth, to not take things that aren't theirs, to mind their own business and let people live their own lives.

It is disheartening.

Wouldn't it be nice if our leaders lived by the same rules as our children?

(See previous post, "Well it's no wonder...")

A taste of their own medicine

I live in a very liberal area.  A lot of people who work for our city don't live in our city.  Many teachers take their 6 -figure salaries home to the suburbs.  All of those taxpayer dollars are then spent and invested in another community.

A lot of city workers don't live in our city.  We even have a city council member who lives somewhere else.  Ugh!

Just this year my street was re-paved.  Poorly, I might add.  After the work was done, everyone on the street was given a tax increase.  See, that's how liberals do it.  They had Obama'ed the money that we paid for street repairs and used it on something else.  (Oh, goody, goody, money!  Hey, let's spend it!  Our constituents are idiots, we can always demand more from them later.). Then, when it came time for street repairs, they did the work and had to charge us again for it.

Today, we were walking the dog and city workers were using a truck with a plow on the front to pick up leaves and fallen branches.  I could hear that plow scraping off the top layer of brand new macadam, that I just paid for.

I asked one of the men if he lived in our city.  He (of course) said that he didn't.  I (sweetly) expressed my concern over our brand new street being torn apart.  He said to call city hall.  He even called me 'honey,' a testament to the success of my diet.

And, that was the end of that.

He needs a taste of his own medicine.  What if the street that he had just paid for in his city was being torn up?  You don't use a plow to pick up leaves and branches!  He would be really upset.  But, he doesn't live in this city and frankly, he just doesn't care.

It is very important to point out that EVERY REPUBLICAN MEMBER OF THE HOUSE has agreed to subject themselves and their staff to Obamacare.  They passed it, they have to live by it, just like the rest of us.

Do any liberals notice what their own party is doing?  They don't want Obamacare.  Congressional democrats are still "deciding" if they are their staff will be subjected to Obamacare.

Um, why can't we make that decision for ourselves?

And, in the most egregious, arrogant display I have ever seen, Secretary Sebelius said that it would be illegal for her to go on Obamacare.  Now, that is just laughable.  The arrogance of this administration knows no bounds.  I ask, again, once we run out of money who is going to pay for all of their extravagant trips, their lobster, their lifetime pensions?

Hey, how about if we make it illegal for the rest of us, too?

I think that all of those liberals need a taste of their own medicine.

Don't you?

Oh! I get it!

"Like a coating of glaze over earthenware are fervent lips with evil hearts." Proverbs 26:30

Being cancelled from your insurance plan is YOUR FAULT, according to Obama.

If someone has said that their insurance policy has been cancelled they are being, "grossly misleading" according to Obama.

Oh, now I get it.

This law, that was shoved through in the middle of the night, has been plagued with problems since the beginning and has now proved to be exactly the dismal failure that we expected is:

OUR FAULT.

You can keep your plan.  Period.  ACTUALLY meant, that if you (because you are too stupid to think for yourself) currently have a plan and like that plan and pay for that plan, you can keep it.  IF, the government deems your plan worthy of being kept.

Whew!  I am so glad that we got that all straightened out.

Something that I have been ranting about all along is: when will a liberal just face up to all this nonsense.  So, I need to give shout outs to those who do.  Liberal radio talk show host, Eboni Williams, admitted that this is a fiasco and the president has some real 'splainin' to do.  Good job, Eboni, thanks for joining the breakfast club.

It's funny, but now that there is absolutely no way that any thinking person can deny that Obama was 'misleading' 'deceptive' 'promulgating a falsehood' or just plain 'telling a big, fat whopper,' media agencies are now jumping on all of the other stuff that Obama has lied about.

Weird.  If you have forgotten any of them, let me give you the short list.  Actually, it is kinda long.

On September 11, 2012, in Benghazi, Libya, after repeated warnings that more security was needed and a promise from our enemies that our embassy would be attacked, it was attacked.  During that 7 hour, fiery bloodbath, with help only an hour away, no help was sent to save our embassy and the Americans there.  Ambassador Stevens was tortured and drug through the streets by terrorists who were carrying out a well orchestrated plan.  There are pictures on the Internet.  I saw it when I was researching to find his name, etc.  And, BAM! There it was.  I was up half the night haunted by the picture.

What would have happened if Americans knew who gave the order to "stand down?"  What would have happened if Americans had seen that picture?  There would have been national outrage.

And, we would have elected our first Mormon president.

But, that didn't happen, the media covered it all up.  No one knows where the president was during those 7 hours.  All we do know is that he went to Vegas right after for a campaign fundraiser. And, he went all over the place blaming the attack, falsely, on a video.

If a Republican had done that, he would be gone.  Period.  Now, all of a sudden, even Chris Matthews is asking what happened in Benghazi.

Earlier this year, Eric Holder testified before congress that he had never heard of spying on journalists.  But, he had not only signed the order to do it, he had shopped around to find a federal judge who would authorize the spying!  He is in contempt of congress for lying under oath.  If that was a Republican, he would be gone.

This is getting old.

Since 2010, the IRS has been torturing Obama's political opponents with their all-reaching, life-destroying power.  Lois Lerner, the person in charge of this all out war against conservatives, refused to testify to congress.  She has since been released and is now living the highlife on her government pension.  All thanks to you.

Can you even imagine if a Republican did that?  Oh, yeah, one did.  He had to resign.

Also this year, it was revealed that the Obama administration is spying on EVERY AMERICAN.  They are seizing the phone records of AP journalists.  The author of the patriot act, admitted that this was going too far and that is not what the law intended.  We were supposed to spy on the bad guys.  Hmmm, are we the bad guys now?

Now, we find out that we are spying on our allies.  And, of course this whole Obamacare mess that I haven ranted about endlessly.

Obama has blamed every possible person in the world for everyone of these REAL scandals during his tenure.  It's not working.  So, guess who he is going to blame now?

You.

Weasel

"I have never met a man who was good at making excuses who was good at anything else." Benjamin Franklin

Well, I may have just figured out how he is going to weasel out of this one.

Sebelius is going to be the sacrificial lamb.

And, then the king can continue on his merry way, fundamentally transforming America from a free society to a socialist one.  We will very soon be a liberal utopia.  In that utopia, the government takes everyone's money and the entire population gets squat.

Remember the bread lines in Russia?  They had those because the government was in charge of the food supply.  They didn't care if you were allergic to gluten.  They didn't care if you stood there all day and starved to death waiting for your stinkin' bread.  Ingrate.

Think of the line at the post office.  Think about it.  You want a very simple service, a service that was successfully navigated with PONIES at one time.  But, I digress.  No matter how long it takes,  no matter how slow, terrible, rude and snarky the service is, the price FOR THE SAME SERVICE WILL CONTINUE TO RISE.  Why?  Because of government bureaucracy.

Now, the line for your doctor will be just like that line at the post office.  You may not have to wait in an actual line, but you will not get to see a doctor for weeks.  Scheduling surgeries could take months.  And, why?  Because the government has to decide if you really need that surgery.  That decision is no longer up to your doctor.

And, what about those doctors?  Will the best and the brightest continue to work for 10 years of their young lives and amass $200,000 in debt in order to become doctors?  They may not, when they see that they are no longer really in charge of patient care.  Of course, doctors' salaries will go down dramatically.  Will there be any reason to enter that field?  Will America continue to be the world leader in medical technology, research and innovation?  Probably not.  All of our money will go to government bureaucracy instead of research.

So, back to Sebelius.  She (and that other gal who testified yesterday) are the first official apologies that the American people have received from this administration.  She is going to take the fall to protect him.  She is putting her own head in the noose.

Well, let's see how things continue to unfold.  Let's see how they are going to spin this latest disaster.

The blame game

And, it continues.

When confronted by a disturbing truth, people often refuse to listen.

Now, people who just can't let this go, who worship Obama and can't accept that he has lied repeatedly (roll film!) are saying that it is the insurance companies' fault for premiums going up.

Sigh.

Ok, the insurance companies have to pay for all this stuff.  Don't they know that?  Ultimately, when 300 million of us go to the doctor, the bills are going to be turned over to the insurance companies.

The insurance companies, you know, the ones that live in the real world and operate on the market?  If they can't make enough money to survive, then what are we going to do?  Plans under Obamacare require that single men without children must be covered for pediatric dentistry.  Plans under Obamacare require that 60 year old women have coverage of maternity needs.

If the insurance companies have to add all of that stuff to plans, the price of the plans will go up.  (Please see my previous post about economics.)  That young, healthy man doesn't need or want pediatric coverage.  That woman doesn't want or need maternity coverage.

But, they are going to get it anyway and pay for it anyway.  Because the government knows best.  And, the cost of the plans going up is a DIRECT RESULT of Obamacare.  The reason for people losing their plans is a DIRECT RESULT of Obamacare.

So, when the insurance companies go belly up because they can't afford to insure anyone and they go out of  business, what will happen?  Oh, yeah, the federal government will be our health insurance provider.

And, I guess, in the end, that is what they want.  They want the government to take over everything in our lives because we are too stupid to know how to take care of ourselves.

I have also heard the president's adoring talking heads blame the people around Obama for Obama's lies.

Exasperated sigh.

Obama chose those people.  He hired those people.  He set the "tone at the top" for how this entire operation would run.  His people are his fault.

Period.

At this point, I am not sure what he can do.  I didn't think that anyone could weasel out of scandal after scandal, lie after lie.  He just feigned outrage, proclaimed he would get to the bottom of it and went back to the golf course - each and every time.

But this latest, that Obamacare is somehow not his fault?

Please.  I am not sure if even he can get out of this one.

Smokin'

Gun, well, just call me deepthroat.

An IRS document from 2010 confirms that the Obama administration knew that 40 to 67 percent of policy holders would lose their health insurance because of Obamacare.

There it is, the published document clearly linking the White House to its own web of lies and deceit.

Remember, I am not happy that things are bad.  I am not happy at all.  I am only relieved that maybe we won't continue to be choked, abused, mistreated, and taxed to death by this administration.

I am happy that millions of Americans, facing the tough choice of continuing health coverage or BUYING FOOD, will be able to get both.  This is a luxury that we haven't seen since, um, 2008.

60 Minutes even (finally) covered the Benghazi attack.

Remember, Obama will make millions of dollars for the rest of his life.  Michelle may not always have her staff of 20 but she will never have to work again, unless she wants to.  The girls will be able to do whatever they want for the rest of their lives.

And, as well they should.  This is America where anyone can achieve anything.

But, what about the rest of us?

The price of gas has quadrupled, the price of food tripled.  People are struggling.  They need that money that the Obama administration is taking away.

If we lower the tax burden on these struggling people, the economy will open up.  People will spend that extra money on shoes, they will go to Applebee's.  That is what we need.

I really do hope that a pile on starts.

I hope that the incompetence and lies come out into the light of day for everyone to see.  I hope it for all of us.

He can go meet with all of his liberal, America-hating, progressive friends whenever he wants.  He won't get to use that cool plane.  But, he will be well taken care of to hang out with Jay-Z, play golf  and eat lobster as much as he wants.

And, this icky little job that is beneath him will be over.

The rest of us can go back to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

Typos

I want to let you know that my typos are...

Entirely the fault of democrats.

See how silly that is?

I do have a team of experts looking for typos, my husband, my mom and my brother.

But, sometimes something just gets by us.

Please know that as I rant, sometimes my fingers are flying over the keyboard and my eyes are closed in frustration or I am looking up at the ceiling trying to figure out why all this is going on.

Obviously, every typo is completely my fault, and I take full responsibility.

Lincoln

"If you want to test a man's character, give him power."  Abraham Lincoln

The message of fiscal conservatives gets so twisted, so distorted, it is hard to comprehend how it happens.  I am a very simple, country woman.  When someone is lying, I can't even think about anything to say, other than, "that person is lying."

See?  Simple.

Now, even the mainstream, liberal media is doing some "investigative journalism" and is finding out that (gasp!) people can't keep their health plans like the president has promised, like, a thousand times.  They are finding out (shocking!) that people are being thrown off their plans at a higher rate than they can sign up for Obamacare.

I don't really call this investigative journalism, I call this waking up.

Every single thing that conservatives said would happen under Obamacare is happening.   Costs are going through the roof for the few who get to keep their plans.  Anywhere from 1/2 to 3/4 of people who currently buy individual insurance are losing their plans.  Period.

The cost of Obamacare, just administering it and setting it up, has already cost double the amount Obama originally said it would cost.  And, remember, all that money has been spent and we don't have one thing to show for it.  So far, it has been nothing more than a colossal waste of taxpayer money.

And, something Republicans couldn't even foresee, the unbelievable incompetence of not even being able to get a functionality website.  But, that is exactly what Republicans said, the government can't administer something of this size.

Of course, Obama has feigned ignorance, yet again.  It is not possible for a president to know absolutely nothing about anything that goes on in his entire administration.

Unless, he is completely incompetent.

And, I think that people (maybe) are starting to realize that.  You can't be in charge and not know anything.  It was cute for a while, "I learned about that on the news!" For:

Benghazi,
The IRS torturing his political opponents,
Fast and Furious,
The NSA spying scandal,
And now the complete and utter failure of his signature legislation.

But, it really isn't cute or funny anymore.  The complete incompetence is so clear and plain that even the media who worships him has had to admit it.

Can't we all just admit it now and get our country back?

Krauthammer

"If the treatment is killing your patients, you stop the treatments." - Charles Krauthammer on changing from a liberal to a conservative.

So, here is an example of the opposite of the victim mentality.

Charles Krauthammer.

The son of immigrants, Charles worked hard and earned a spot at Harvard Medical School.  One summer, Charles dove into a pool, hit his head and immediately became paralyzed.  Charles has never recovered the full use of his arms and legs.

But, did that stop him?

Nope.

Charles finished Harvard Medical School WITH HIS CLASS.  He is now a Pulitzer Prize winning journalist who has had over 30 years of success.

Why do I mentioned Charles after the class warfare story?

(Well, he has a new book out and is doing interviews.)

But, also it is because Charles' story didn't have to end this way.  He could have chosen a very different path.  He could have lain in that hospital bed and become sad, sullen, angry even.

He had his whole life ahead of him and to suddenly become paralyzed and have it all taken away.

It's not fair.

But, that is not what he did.  He asked Harvard to let him continue his education.  They hung a plexi-glass table over his bed and placed books facedown on it so that he could read his books.  Professors came in and showed lesson notes on the ceiling.  (I know a thing or two about accommodating nurses.  I may tell you about it another time.)

Krauthammer was not a victim.

And, as he entered the world of political journalism, his whole worldview changed.  He saw that democratic policies were not helping the people that they were supposed to help.  "If the treatment is killing your patients, you stop the treatments."

This is what thinking people do.  They take control of their own lives.  They look around, they think about what is going on.  If it isn't working they change it.

They don't continue walking around in their underwear pretending that they have on invisible clothes.  They tell the truth, seek the truth and live by it.

More of us should do that.

Class warfare

Over the weekend, a Chinese immigrant killed his cousin's wife and four children.  He brutally stabbed to death four young children and their mother.

Why?

He was jealous of their lifestyle.

This is what happens when we de-value, mock and punish success.

"You didn't make that," this administration declares.

 "America isn't exceptional," they say.

And, the worst example of revisionist history ever, "This isn't a Christian nation."

Then what happens?  As we spiral out of control into anarchy, an important, destructive element takes hold.

Class warfare.

If you aren't in control of your circumstances, you can't change them, right?  If the government is in control of your circumstances, not you, there is no way that you can change your circumstances.  You are a victim.  As you sit in your barco lounger, with your free phone, free food and big screen TV, you start to look around.

(This is the reason that conservatives are against entitlement programs.  It keeps people in poverty.  If they work, they lose their benefits.  So, instead, they stay in comfortable poverty.)

Some people have more than you have.

But, you can't get what they have.  The government is in control of your circumstances, not you.  You can't work hard and get more.

How can you get more stuff?  How can you be more successful?  Take it.  Take their stuff.  They didn't get it by working hard, they, like you, got it from someone else.  Since they got it from someone else, it isn't theirs, it is yours.

Take it.

Class warfare isn't new.  It, like every other thing I have ranted about, is as old as the hills.

The stage is all set.  Be prepared for more stories just like this one.

Anna Echoo

Echoo is a DEMOCRATIC representative to congress from California.

Why do I mention her?

Because she woke up!

She is finally willing to break the party line and tell the truth.  She is finally pointing and saying, "Hey!  The emperor isn't wearing any clothes."

During congressional hearings about the failed Obamacare website, in response to the repeated defense of contractors that overwhelming traffic cause the website to crash, Echoo objected.

She said that "Amazon doesn't crash the week before Christmas.  800Flowers doesn't crash on Valentines's Day..."

She gets it, the claim that high traffic caused the website to fail is completely ridiculous and she said so.  Applause to you, Rep. Echoo.

Also on board the "wake-up" train: Conan O'Brien, Saturday Night Live, (previously mentioned) Jon Stewart, Jimmy Kimmel, Jay Leno (he may have already been awake), even Steven Colbert.

All of these late night hosts and shows are calling the Obamacare website exactly what it is - a ridiculous failure and a collossal waste of money.

Even every inane talking point that has been parroted by the White House is being (justly) mocked.

During Obama's speech in the rose garden, which was exactly the same as every other speech he has given since 2007, he insisted that, "The product is good."  Come on, the product isn't good if you can't even get it.

The president insists that "the best and the brightest" will be brought in to fix the website.  Please, why didn't we call them in the first place?

The ludicrous idea that heavy traffic caused the website to crash has already been blasted out of the water.

Even the White House press corps is actually asking Jay Carney (the White House press secretary) important questions.  Of course, he still just gives snarky put offs and never actually answers anything.

But, I asked and it has happened.  Someone, quite a few people actually, have woken up.

How about you?

Oh, great, a personal message directly to Harry Reid

Senator Harry Reid has already said that the democrats won't negotiate during budgets talks.

Oh, great!

The budget talks haven't even started yet!  They start next week.

And, we already know that the stompy-foot democrats aren't going to budge.

We've increased taxes in every possible way in the last five years.  We have raised taxes on the rich, the poor, the middle class.  We have increased taxes in the form of regulations that are strangling businesses.  We increased the payroll tax by 2% and every single working American saw a decrease in their paychecks.

I imagine a lot of people saw that loss and thought, "Hey, I am not rich!  Why are my taxes going up?"

Because, to a democrat, if you make $30,000 a year you are rich and deserve to pay "your fair share" in higher taxes.

Ok, he wants more money to come into the federal government, right?  He says that people are willing to pay more.  Isn't that nice?

HEY HARRY, I DON'T WANT TO PAY MORE, GOT IT?!?!?

But, when you increase the tax RATE you don't necessarily get an increase in REVENUE.  The wealthy put their money elsewhere to avoid the taxes.  The poor can't pay it.

So, Harry, you want more money coming in?  LOWER TAXES ACROSS THE BOARD ON ABSOLUTELY EVERYONE.

He was around in the 70s, I know he was.  Carter was strangling the economy with high taxes and good intentions and we were going down the crapper.

Reagan came in and simply cut taxes.  He also let our enemies know that he wouldn't take any crap.  Oh, the media hated him!  I was in school and I still remember thinking, "Is Bryant Gumbel allowed to talk to the conservative person like that?  I thought we were supposed to have 'objective journalism.'"

The act of limiting the government that had been slowing growing since WW2, ushered in the era of the greatest growth the world has ever known.  We made astounding technological advances (I think something happened in someone's garage, some fruit company.  That could happen because the government wasn't there shutting them down.)

Our charitable giving went through the roof because everyone had more money.

And, finally, Harry, the revenue flooding into the federal government soared.

Liberal policies don't work!  They have been tried here and around the world and they have never worked.  What works is the free market, limited government and low taxation.

Here is what I don't get.  What does Harry get out of this?  Why does he cling so desperately to these policies?  I mean, seriously, what is in it for him?

If we don't crush hard-working, tax-paying, middle-class Americans will Harry's life change?  Will he lose his spot at the Greenbriar?  Will he lose his cushy chair in that congressional lounge where he gets to go sip whiskey?  Will he lose his staff of 20 or so minions who will do his bidding?  Will he have to get his own sandwich from the congressional deli?  Will he have to (gasp!) open his own mail or answer his own phone?

Seriously. What is in it for you, Harry?

You will still have your obscene wealth, which you earned from taxpayers.  While at the same time, you call hard working business owners who have risked everything to make something new 'greedy.'

You will still get to life the high life.  Why do you have to begrudge the rest of us groceries?

What do you get out of all this, Harry?  Seriously, I want to know.

More

You know why my rants have been a little bit subdued for a few days?  Know why I have been talking about goldfish, electrical storms and Dancing with the Stars?

Well, I was happy.

For a few, glorious days, I was happy.  Probably for the first time since the baffling election last year. I, of course, am not happy about the blatant waste of taxpayer dollars or the fact that people who may need it don't have healthcare.

(Please go see what your state has.  I did.  And, states provide insurance for people, unless the bungler-in-chief has totally screwed that up, too.)

I was happy because there was absolutely, positively, no way that Democrats could blame this latest in a string of scandals on the Republicans.  No way.  I mean, come on, people, it's called OBAMAcare.

I was actually happy because I thought that people were finally waking up.  The liberal media was even admitting that the Obamacare rollout was a fiasco.

Wasn't it Jon Stewart who said, "Ok, now how are they going to spin this turd?"

Indicating:
1. Even the liberal media knows that the administration spins its ridiculous, bumbling failures into lunatic fantasies and
2.  Even the liberal media knows that Obamacare is a turd!

(Sorry, mom.)

The vast majority of Americans think that the country is headed in the wrong direction.  They, unlike you and me, seem to be confused about the exact cause.  But, they know that it is going the wrong way.

This was the neon sign to connect those dots.

"Hey, everybody,  this is the reason we are headed the wrong way! The signature legislation of this administration, which is NAMED AFTER THIS ADMINISTRATION is a dismal failure.  More people are losing their insurance than are being covered by the 'Affordable Care Act.' Hey, everybody, this is the problem, right here!"

Even the most confused, uninformed, partisan individual can not possibly misunderstand that Obamacare cost us a fortune and is a failure.  It is completely the fault of the person who it is named after.  He has been selling it for SIX YEARS.  He won two presidential elections based on this law.

And..

The fact that it is a total disaster is somehow the a Republicans' fault.

I have left the happy place and am totally unhinged.

Hold on

The Democrats are now blaming the Republicans for the failures of Obamacare?

What?!?!?

I just saw an interview with Howard Dean in which he says that the problems with Obamacare have to be blamed on the Republicans because of the government shutdown.  You can hear the interviewer going, "Yeah!"  As if that could possibly true.

House Republicans are the only sane people left in the entire federal government.  The house has the "power of the purse."  The American people sent Republicans to the house so that they could rein in government spending.  That is how it works, whether you like it or not.

I guess the Democrats bank on the fact that most people don't know that when they say, "Well, we are in charge, we are going to shove whatever we want down your throats and oh, yeah, here is the bill."

It is crazy to say that the Republicans were responsible for the government shutdown.  It is pure lunacy to say that the Republicans are responsible for the Obamacare failures.

Democrats, wake up!  Your intelligence is being mocked.

There is no way that anyone could believe that an Obama sponsored bill, that was supported 100% by Democrats and has been opposed in every possible way by Republicans, could in any way be the fault of Republicans!

It was bad to say that Republicans were responsible for the shutdown.  Really, the Republicans were waiting at the negotiating table.  They waited for the president to get off the golf course.  Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi didn't even condescend to show up.  Republicans made concession after concession and ended up getting nothing for their trouble.  Why?

Obama and senate Democrats REFUSED TO NEGOTIATE.

Now, Democrats have shoved Obamacare down our throats - 70% of Americans don't want it.  Premiums are going through the roof and that is just for the people who get to keep their insurance.  The rest are getting dumped by their insurance companies.

Then this arrogant, incompetent administration wasted hundreds of millions of dollars of OUR money on a website that doesn't even work.  It doesn't help the very people that democrats claim to want to help.

Website designers are lined up out the door to talk about how they could have designed a website like that in a fraction of the three years that they had and for about $1 million.  That is a savings of $393 million, for those of you keeping track.

And democrats honestly think that the people they have elected, the people who represent them, the people who are supposed to care about them, actually care?

Nope.  They just want more money oh and

They blame Republicans.

This is absolutely unbelievable. It is outrageous.

Diane Sawyer

My mom grew up with Diane Sawyer.  If we met her on the street, she wouldn't run up and hug us.  But, if we told her who mom was, she would know.  It's like that, ok?

When I was growing up, mom used to say, "I feel sorry for Diane."  We would be sitting there in the middle of nowhere (see previous posts) in our Scooby-Doo pjs watching one of those TVs that has three channels and is a piece of furniture.  Remember those?

I remember looking around and thinking, "I don't feel sorry for Diane at all.  She looks like she has it made."

Now, as I sit here with my own children, I am starting to feel sorry for Diane.  How can a woman who has benefitted in every possible way from the feminist movement possibly further the notion that a woman in a burka is free?

Peter Jennings, Tom Brokaw, Diane Sawyer.  In a field completely dominated by men, Diane has not only become one of the most known, noted and treasured female journalists of our time.  She has become one of the most known, successful and beloved journalists of our time, period.  Male or female.

I also remember looking at mom, looking at Diane and then thinking, "Mom is a lot prettier."

How can this woman who sat next to my mother in her ballet shoes and has absolutely risen to the pinnacle of her profession do a report that basically says that American women are less free than women who wear burkas?

And Republicans are engaged in a war on women?

Really?

Wild Animals part 2

In college, I dated a guy who had a fish tank full of piranhas.  It was so cool!  He would go get a bunch of feeder fish and dump those poor little guys in the tank full of piranhas.

One time, I watched.  I will never forget it.

The piranha didn't do anything at first.  They just swam to the middle of the tank and let the goldfish swim around them.

Piranha, "Hey, guys, we won't hurt you, we are your friends."

Goldfish, "Do ta do ta do, I am swimming, I am swimming, do de do la la."

After the stupid goldfish were completely used to the piranha, sensed no harm and were completely comfortable, one of the piranha opened its mouth.

It just opened its mouth, that's it.  It didn't move or anything.

A goldfish swam right in.

Chomp!  The piranha bit it almost in half. The startled goldfish quickly swam away.  Yes, it swam away, almost chomped in half.  The back half was hanging on by a thread.

The piranha didn't move.  It just closed its mouth again and stayed right there in the middle of the goldfish.

Goldfish, "Whew!"  Then a few seconds later, "Do te do, la, la la, swimming."

The piranha opened its mouth again.  Having learned nothing at all, that goldfish swam right into its mouth again.

The piranha didn't let the goldfish swim away again a second time.

Will the goldfish ever learn?

Will we?

USSR

I can't believe that I haven't mentioned this sooner.

Earlier this year, I was talking to two conservative, Christian Russians in a church near where I live.  (We were there because our children were taking a test.)

If you had told me in 1984 while I was shimmying to "99 Red Balloons" that in 2013 I would be talking to two former Soviets in a church, I wouldn't have believed you in a million years.

It was before the election, so I wasn't completely unhinged yet.  Well, maybe.

They were saying, "Maybe we should go back to Russia!"  They had never imagined that communism would actually catch on here.

They told me that the most important part of communism was atheism.  Isn't that interesting?  There were no allowances for any religion at all.  All religion was bad, needed to be removed and religious people were considered enemies of the state.

Hmmmmm.  Didn't the Pentagon recently label Christians a hate group?

The families of these women fled to the US for religious freedom.  They are successful and have taken full advantage of every opportunity that this country provides.  They got were they are with hard work and determination.

Disconnect (cont.)

Can't we stop this now?

When you think of Hilary Clinton, do you think of someone who honestly cares about the well being of other people?

"What does is matter now?" She screamed about the four men who were murdered in Benghazi.  I think it matters a lot to the parents, wives, and children of those men.

Don't you think it matters?

When you think of Kathleen Sebelius, do you think of a person who is warm and caring for her fellow human beings?

"Some people live and some people die."  She declared as the life of a little girl was literally in her hands.  That little girl is alive and well now, thanks to a Reagan-appointed judge who signed the paper that Sebelius refused to sign.

Some people care if some people die.  Don't you care?

Or, when you think of these elite liberals do you think of someone who cares absolutely nothing whatsoever for anyone but: themselves, their careers, and their own butts?

What I struggle with is, how can they disdain the American people so much?  Seriously, how can they begrudge us our simple little lives and a future for our children?  We keep paying their cushy salaries so that they can live the highlife.  Why can't we just live our lives without all of this government interference that is crippling us?

Here is what I absolutely can't understand at all.  When the economy fails and 1% of the population is rich and the other 99% is poor (anybody remember the USSR?) who will pay those cushy salaries?  Won't lots and lots of government people lose their highlife?

So, we have tried the liberal way for 5 years.  Every possible aspect of our economy is worse.  Can't we just stop now?  Can't we just try a little de-regulation so that businesses can succeed and hire new people?  Can't we lower some taxes so that people can pay their bills?

When you lower taxes, federal revenue soars.  That's what they want, right?  Lots of money flowing into the federal government?

Republicans know how to do that.  Then the liberals can have a field day spending it all.

Why don't liberals see that the policies that they adore hurt people and destroy economies?

Why is there that disconnect?

Disconnect

A new poll shows that 73% of Americans are dissatisfied with the direction that the country is going. More Democrats and more Independents are dissatisfied than they were a year ago.  Republicans were just as ticked off a year ago as they are now.  (Don't blame me!)

What I don't understand is how liberals fail to see that it is the very policies that they worship that cause this kind of mess.  (See previous 3 posts, Its's a Mess!)

Know what I mean?

Again, the halls of liberalism tend to be filled with people who majored in "gender equality studies."  While Republicans tend to be engineers, accountants and finance majors.

And, that may explain some of it.

Remember what Reagan said, "Liberals aren't dumb, it's just that everything they think they know wrong."

Maybe they just don't understand?

Using my model of the good hearted liberal, which I fervently believe to be true, I understand that most liberals genuinely want to help people.

Aren't there any good hearted liberals out there who see that the current policies aren't helping people?  Can't they see that their beloved programs don't actually work.

2.7 million MORE Americans are in poverty today than in 2009.  That's horrible.  Think of all those people.  The food stamp program has increased, 12 million more people are on food stamps and it didn't help at all.  More people are living in poverty.

Isn't there one good hearted liberal out there who will stand up and say, "Stop!  This isn't working."  Don't they care?  Can't they imagine the faces of all those people, suffering, right here in America?

One of my favorite sayings is, 'If you give a man a fish, he will eat for a day.  If you give him a fishing pole, he will eat for life."

Another way to say it is, 'If you give a person a hand out, he will vote Democrat forever.  If you give him clothes and a job interview, he will become a Republican.'

Half of Americans say that they are just getting by.  They are barely making ends meet and are only just able to pay their bills.  That makes me so sad.  Think of all those people.  Think of all those children who may not get to do an extracurricular activity this year because their family doesn't have the money.

The money was wasted on Obamacare.

Think of all those hard working Americans who have to sit their child down and say, "Honey, I know we planned on sending you on the class trip to Washington D.C., but we can't afford it now.  I am so sorry, honey."

The money was squandered on a botched up website.

Think of all those Americans with degrees who work hard in the field of accounting, engineering and finance.  They all make great salaries and they are barely making it because they spend  almost all of their money on food, gas and other people.

Their money is going to fund the socialism healthcare system.

Why doesn't one liberal stand up and say, "these policies are killing the middle class!  We need to stop and rethink this.  I care about the middle class!"

Does any elite liberal actually know anyone in the middle class?  Is that the problem?  I am not sure if they understand how much damage their policies do to the people who work hard and make this country run every day.

Do they?  The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting to get a different result.

France, Greece, Detroit, Chicago, it isn't working.  Socialism policies don't work.

Can't we stop this now?

A day in the hood

This morning at about 4 am, our dog came into our bedroom and said something like this (I am paraphrasing), "Mama, Daddy, Mama, Daddy, there is a storm, there is a storm, I am fweaking out!  I am fweaking out!  Can I get in bed with you?"

My husband replied, (I am really paraphrasing now) "No!  Get out!"

The dog was inconsolable and eventually had to go in her crate to seek comfort.

Even with my eyes closed, I could see some flashes like lightning.  Whether is was lightning or a circuit breaker blowing, I don't know, but, there were flashes and then the power went out.

I spent the rest of the night listening to the "beep, beep..." of our wifi tower letting us know it had switched to emergency power.  Thank goodness.  We can't keep the house warm, but we do have wifi.

I always tell myself that when there is nothing going on and nothing that I can do about it to just relax and enjoy the downtime.  It is rare, of course and I should treasure that time.  I do, to some extent.

But, I really want to work.  There is an empty space inside of us and work fills it up.  Haven't you ever heard of a workaholic?  Work fills a need, it feels good to complete something.  A job well done is a good thing and it is important to see the products of your labor.

It is why I continue to rant even though my hands are freezing.  It is the reason that the children are playing with headlamps on instead of just going back to bed.

Doing something feels good, it is the right thing to do.

So now I am the old timer saying, "Get a job, hippie!"

But, it is good advise.  So many confused, frustrated, bored teenagers should do just that, get a job.  It will give them something to do.  They will earn money.  They will learn the value of honest labor and the value of the money that they earned.  They will learn how the world works, they will feel the sense of accomplishment from a job well done.

Well, the power has been off for 12 hours now.  That is what they do to us in the hood, make us wait. I have to put my gloves back on.

A little bit about economics

Yes, it is a dirty little subject that no one likes to talk about.  But, I think it is time.  I know, 499 out of 500 people failed Econ 101, yes, I was the one person who passed.  I am a little weird, I think you know that by now.

In that Econ 101 class we (or at least I) learned about supply and demand.  When the demand for something goes up, the price for it goes up.  But, if you increase supply, the price then goes down because there is more of it to buy.  So, if something is in plentiful supply, it is cheap.  Like, cheap labor.  If something is scarce, it costs more, like diamonds or engineers.

The CEO of Hardee's and Carl's Jr was using this simple economic philosophy to explain why Obamacare is destroying full time employment in the United States.

Because of the Obamacare mandate that full time workers must be given healthcare insurance at the expense of employers, the cost of full time workers has gone up.  So, employers, who want to stay in business, are using fewer full time workers.  Instead, they are switching to cheaper, part-time workers.

Duh.

There goes that Oval Office picture in my head again.  Interestingly, there is not a single accounting, finance, or engineering person in the room.  Just all of those liberal arts majors dreaming up fun ways to destroy the American economy.

The few, the proud

In an unprecedented act of idiocy (wait a minute, there might be some recent precedents, see all of my previous posts) the Obama administration is changing the Marine Corps hats to be more unisex.

Maybe the government should have stayed closed.  At least Obama wasn't finding ridiculous ways to waste our money.

To the tune of 8 million dollars, the Obama administration is changing the hat so that it will look better on women.

Does anyone else see that making the military look less masculine is not a good thing?  We want our military to look tough.  Let me rephrase that, I want our military to look tough because I want them to win.

Is that what Obama wants?  Or does he want our military to look more feminine so that we will lose?

I hope that all of you know what the Marine Corps does for our country, they keep us safe.  They are the first to arrive on the scene, they are the first to go in.  When politicians talk about "boots on the ground" those boots are filled up with proud, brave, courageous men and women who put them on to protect us.  They do this selflessly because they are Marines.

I can't even imagine a woman in the Marine Corps who would want to have a cover that makes her look more feminine.  Seriously.  She would want to look like the kick-ass you-know-what that she is.

Am I right?  Any Marines out there wanna chime in?

I am getting that mental image again of Obama sitting around in the Oval Office with a bunch of political science and women's studies majors.

And, they are laughing.

Hard.

At us.

If you aren't upset yet, you should be.

We'll, it's no wonder

kids are such a mess!

Is this how all adults act?  Point fingers and blame each other for everything?  I know that the media is supposed to "objectively report" this stuff (snort.) But, I think that a call for maturity is in order.

CGI is blaming Health and Human Services, Kathleen Sebelius is saying it's not her fault.

Really?

Why doesn't one single person in this entire administration take responsibility for anything?

They are all powerful and collect obscenely large, lifetime salaries.  But, not one of them actually knows anything.  Not one of them is in charge of anything.  Why, as the employers of these people, do we stand for that?

Come on.

That is complete incompetence or completely misleading.  It is one or the other, it can't be both.  And, how can they keep getting by with this story line:

I am in charge, I am the one who makes all of the money, my name is on the door, BUT...

I don't know anything, nobody say anything, you can't prove anything.

It's like the whole place is being run by Bart Simpson.  Seriously.

The firm who got paid $394 million of your money actually says that it isn't their fault that the website doesn't work.  Really?  How does this company successfully command multi-million dollar projects?  Where did all of that money go?

And, what are we teaching our children?  We are passing on behavior like this.  We are telling our kids to do whatever they want and when they get caught, blame someone else.

This is our future.

And, through it all, I really get the sense that these people genuinely don't care.  Do you get that sense?  They still have their jobs, they still have health insurance, which is free.  They are still pointing at each other saying that nothing is their fault.  Meanwhile, people who actually needed that health insurance still don't have it.

And they don't seem to care at all.

It's a mess part 3

Before anyone reads this and calls me all sorts of terrible names.  Well, I am a Republican, I have been called worse.

Remember, I don't think that big government helps people, in general.  It is not efficient, it is not close, it does a poor job of managing things from far away.

A group with which I was affiliated for years packs up bags of groceries and gives them to homeless people.  (Some say that we are enabling.)  But, we are also feeding poor people who couldn't otherwise feed themselves.

That is efficient.

If the people are interested in getting off the streets, we help them get jobs and places to live.  We give them clothes, furniture, everything that they need to get started on a new life.

This is effective.

It is just not as effective from the federal government.  "Hey, Jim, what size shirt do you wear?"  Here!

The federal government has to set up an office, buy those cushy chairs (see previous posts) and Jim still doesn't have a shirt and we already have him at an interview.

See what I am saying?

Also, I don't think that the previous system was in need of an extensive overhaul that included a government takeover.  (See my first healthcare post.)

So, having said ALL of that.

It is a real step down for liberals to see that the government can't take all of our money, swoop in and save everyone.

That was the selling point.  The government was going to save the "damsel in distress" that's us.  With all of its big government wisdom, it was going to run in and save the day.

It didn't.

I believe that it fundamentally can't.

I also would encourage everyone who doesn't have healthcare coverage to go see what their state currently offers.  Because, remember, no matter what they say, it is unconstitutional for the federal government to tell the states what to do.

A radical feminist

I was listening to a story on the news about a family that has doubled up.  The grandmother has moved in with her daughter and family to save costs, etc.  They have combined their homes into one which is less expensive and more convenient for everyone.

We may be all headed that way.  As prices of everything skyrocket and benefits to the elderly are stopped by loving, tolerant liberals, we may all have to start doubling up.

That isn't new.  That's old.  That's as old as the hills.

People have always had grandma live with the family while mom goes out and works.  Immigrants who had shops, the mom worked, grandma was upstairs with the kids.  Right?  This isn't a new thing.

Now, women are back in the workforce, but grandma has her own condo in West Palm Beach.  She isn't there to take care of the kids.  She is playing Parcheesi with Ethel and Ruth on the deck.

You know what I think?  American women experienced the most liberating time in the history of the world and we missed it.

It was when women stayed home with the kids, grandma was in Reno, dad worked and women spent their days perfecting the Jello mold.

Oh, I am going to get hate mail now.

But, you know I am serious.  Not HAVING to work was an option.  Getting to be home, be creative, raise the kids and have cocktail hour promptly at 5, was the easy time.

Hollywood has mocked that time period in every possible way.  But, it wasn't all bad.  One income could support a family.  That was a good thing.  One family member could choose not to work and everyone could still eat.  That was a really good thing.  Someone was there when the kids got home from school, also a good thing.

Now, women have to work, we don't have help at home, we still have to cook, clean, do laundry, pay the bills, take care of the kids, go grocery shopping.  And, we all need the two incomes just to survive.

This system completely stinks.

It's still a mess

Some days, I think, "Will there be anything to rant about today? How could there possibly be more to rant about today?  There can't possibly be anything else to rant about today."

But, there always is.

The bumbling firm, CGI Federal, which has somehow managed to waste (its share of) $394 million of our taxpayer dollars completely botching up the healthcare website has said they are working around the clock to fix problems.  They also said they are improving the system, calling it, "complex, ambitious and unprecedented."

Really?

I am just a simple country girl, but when I go to Amazon and click a button, I hear the soft thump of a package courtesy of the UPS man a few days later.

I am not a techie but, I am pretty sure that many websites handle 20 million customers each day without a problem.

Unprecedented?  Ambitious?  Complex?

I don't think so.

Do you?

"Climate Change"

I put it in quotes because it isn't a real thing.  It is a pretend thing.

Actually it is a pretend thing made up to replace another made up thing.

Remember "global warming?"  It has been proved, undeniably, to be completely false.  And, the polar ice caps are thicker than they have been during the past 15 years.

Drew Carey said, "Anyone who believes in global warming hasn't been to Cleveland in January."

:)

Now, if you told someone that global warming wasn't true, they would call you all sorts of icky names.  But, it has been proven false.  So, quietly, without any fanfare the term has been changed to "climate change."  Now, the next ice age is coming.

And, they call us fearmongers?  Isn't that just going from one fearmongering tactic to another without even a pause to get a Ph.D?

And, so it continues.  Now climate change is being called into question.  There just aren't any undeniable scientific facts to support it.

Remember science?  You had a hypothesis, you tested it and if was true then it became a real, scientific fact.  That was so cool.  They used to teach you to prove hypotheses in school. What do they do now?  Ask you to make predictions, find them to be false, then write a paper on it, publish a dissertation on it and then get a show on MSNBC?

Oh, yeah.

So, now newspapers are actually censoring articles that debunk the notion of climate change.  There goes that freedom of the press again.  There goes our lapdog oh I mean watchdog media again searching to uncover the truth at all costs to protect us.

I miss that.  I miss science.

Don't you?

Bill Engvall

I am not from a small town.  I am from 15 miles outside of a small town in the middle of nowhere.  It is different there, it is a way of life that is being slowly lost forever.

On a recent trip home, we were driving down the old country road that leads to my father's house.  It was previously the road to my grandmother's house and before that my great-grandparents'.

As we passed by another car going in the opposite direction, the person waved and I waved back.  My daughters asked, "Do we know them?"

I said, "No."

They said, "Then why did you wave at a stranger?"

"I don't know," was my hesitant reply.

That's just what we do, when you pass by someone, you wave.

I read a study once about small towns.  I think my small town may have even been mentioned in the study, that happens a lot.  The study was saying that in small towns, like 9.8 times out of 10, when you pass someone on the street you smile and say, "Hello."

Know what would happen if I smiled and said hello to someone on the street where I live now?  Sheesh, I shudder to think.

So, that brings me to Bill Engvall.  Bill is a comedian best known for the "Redneck Comedy Tour" with Jeff Foxworthy and Larry the Cable Guy.  (Making the connection to me?)  Bill is currently on Dancing with the Stars.

Bill is a gentlemen.

The other contestants, hosts, producers and everyone associated with the show seem to be baffled by this behavior.

And, they love it.

I think the same thing a happened another time when Trace Adkins was on the "Apprentice" everyone  was startled by and fell in love with the characteristics of: humility, patience, kindness, gentleness, selflessness and thoughtfulness that were characteristics of these gentlemen.

Here is the problem, we have thrown away all of our "old ways."  They are all bad, out of date, stupid, irrelevant and unnecessary in our new society.

But, nothing could be further from the truth, we need our old ways now more than ever.

I don't know for sure, but Bill and Trace might have been told "no" when they were growing up.  I am going out on a limb here, but they may have not been allowed to do and say anything that they wanted.  They were given (possibly) guidance, correction and parenting.

Why does our society completely throw away the process it takes to achieve a certain result and then become surprised when a different result is achieved?

Why does our society think that never telling a child "no", never teaching a child right and wrong, never teaching a child to wait, never teaching a child to be kind to others would produce anything other than a selfish, spoiled, rotten child?

Why does our society not see that the qualities that they actually admire and desire come from the exact process that they think is so terrible?

I don't know the answers to any of these questions.

Maybe we could ask Bill.

Wild Animals

We went to the zoo on our trip.  At the zoo, there was a place where bats fly free.  There is no net between the bats and the people.

We walked in and my kids were a little freaked.  They are half redneck and they are pretty clear on bats.  If one bites you, you can die.

So, the zoo keeper was preaching about how the bats are more afraid of us than we are of them.

I didn't say this, but I was thinking, "Um, they aren't afraid of us because people, like, feed them."

He continued to preach the wonderful-ness of bats, how much good they do, how many pests they eat.  (I am glad that a mouse activist wasn't there or there might have been a smack down.)

Then, I just couldn't keep it in.  I said, "You know, the thing about wild animals is, they are wild.  We forget that at our own peril.  Like the guy who got eaten by the bear, the guy who got eaten by the tiger, that guy who..."

Then, my husband gave me double major stink eye and my children actually started pulling and pushing me out of the enclosure.  (One got on each side, it was effective.)

The nerve!

And, I was just getting started!  "Rant about it," they said.

Then, we went to the giraffe part,  I like giraffes.  There was a video of a giraffe giving birth.  One of my children was totally horrified, just as well.  The other kept watching it over and over.  I hope she  becomes a doctor. The hooves were hanging out then, WHAM! The whole baby giraffe falls out in a waterfall of you-know-what from 6 feet in the air.  Then, the mama giraffe kneed him in the head, cleaned him up and off he went.

Life is hard.

Should the mama giraffe have shielded her baby from that long, terrible fall?   Well, no, that is how he got out.  Should she have shielded him from all harm so that he never has to suffer?  Well, no.  How will he ever learn to take care of himself?

There are so many lessons and parallels here, I will just hit on the highlights.

Wild animals are wild.  They are nothing like humans and when we forget that, we do so at our own peril.

Life is hard, the animal kingdom shows us that all the time.  But, the lessons that our children learn shape them into the people that they become.  No one learns from someone else's mistakes, they learn from their own mistakes.  As painful as it is, we have to let them make those mistakes so that they can learn and grow.

Another interesting morning

So, I was talking to BTL again this morning.  (See previous post, An interesting morning.)

And, we were talking about taxes.

These liberals are getting downright chatty with me.

I can't imagine how taxes came up.  I mean, it's not like I'm obsessing about this stuff or anything.

So, we were discussing all of our local tax levies (see previous post, Local taxes.)  We are currently facing a tax increase for the: port, libraries, schools and parks.  If they all pass our property taxes could go up as much as 50%.  She was really concerned about our tax increases.

She completely agreed that raising taxes isn't always the answer.  (See future post, "Chicago.")  She even felt that raising taxes can really hurt people because some people can't afford the taxes and then they lose their house.

We had a dialogue, a reasonable discussion.  We agreed!

Why am I telling you this?

Common ground - we need to find it.  It is key to our success.  If we can find common ground with liberals, we can really get somewhere.

Nancy Pelosi says that the amount we pay doesn't make a difference, well it doesn't make a difference to her.  She doesn't care, she is a billionaire and doesn't care about her constituents.  She is completely out of touch with America, including many liberals.

They actually don't want to pay for taxes instead of food.  And, that is where we are headed.

So, maybe it is ok that I am totally obsessed with this stuff and talk about it.  It helps find common ground and it furthers our message.

And, it's interesting.

Rallying the troops

It is really hard to get a lot of community organizing going, or protests organized or rallies going when your battle cry is:

"Leave me alone."

That is the problem with this silent majority.  It has been silent too long.  Conservatives just want to be left alone to live in peace, raise their kids and play Jenga.

Meanwhile, liberals (for some reason) believe that their way is the only way and anyone who disagrees with them doesn't really deserve to, like, breathe.

(See when Hitler took over...)

Any one who doesn't believe completely in every liberal ideal is called really terrible things that would be inappropriate to call a baby seal.  So, conservatives are marginalized and are really being attacked now.

While we have remained silent, everything that we hold dear is being taken from us.

Conservatives are at home going, "Ha, ha, you didn't say it in the form of a question, you lose!"

Liberals are out there having a rally for healthcare reform.  (Who is losing now?)

Conservatives are home field dressing a deer.

Liberals are out there organizing communities against eating meat.

Some conservatives are at church.

Liberals are using tax money to remove all references to God in every possible forum all over the country.

See, here is the thing, conservatives really truly don't care about any of your alternative lifestyles.  Seriously, we just don't care.  It's not that we don't care about you, it's that we don't care about how you are living your life, it doesn't have anything to do with this.

So, you are gay, great.  I don't care, it doesn't bother me, it doesn't have anything to do with me.

So, you love the environment, great, so do I.  I am going to use it.

So, you don't eat meat, great, more for me.

We just don't care.

We don't hate you, we just don't care because it is your business and someone is going to get voted off Dancing with the Stars.

So, you hate Christianity, fine.  But, why can't I worship the way that I want.  And for that matter, why do we have to re-write the history of our country?

You (and Obama) say that this isn't a Christian country anymore.  But, it was founded on the Judeo-Christian ethic.  (I am as worried for Jews as I am for Christians, seriously.)

Anyway, I just wanted you to know.

An interesting morning

I was having breakfast this morning with someone, let's call her, BTL for big-time liberal.  She calls me DITWR for died in the wool Republican.

Wait, let's just call her "she" and me, well, "me."

Anyway, so I was having breakfast with this big-time liberal and there was something on the front of the morning paper about immigrants being worried that they aren't going to get enough money.

This BTL said, "I know that I shouldn't say this, but we shouldn't be paying benefits for all of these illegal aliens."

I said, "Oh, you do love me, you do, you really do!"

She said, "Let go."

So, I climbed off of her and the discussion continued.

We AGREED that illegal aliens shouldn't get benefits like welfare, healthcare and education from our system because illegal aliens don't pay anything into our system.

We AGREED!

The thing about the entire issue is this - does anybody really want illegal aliens to take all of the benefits of our system without paying anything in?  Really?  I mean beside Nancy Pelosi.

Show of hands, how many hard working Americans want to give free stuff to people who are here illegally?

In Western Europe, they don't give you stuff if you are there illegally.  They kick you out of the country.

Which is exactly what we should do.

I understand wanting to come here, this place totally rocks.  I have stood on the border of Texas and Mexico.  On one side, there is everything from a Wal-Mart to a Golden Corral.  On the other side is nothing.  Nothing.  Just nothing.

I would die getting to the line and toss my baby over the line.  I totally get it, I do.

But, there is a way to come here legally.  It is a process, it is hard, and it is worth it.  Because when the process is completed, you are an American and can do whatever you want.

But, if we keep up this crazy idea that anyone can just come on in and take whatever they want, our system will fail.  The math doesn't work and it is totally unfair to every hard-working, tax-paying American.   It is also unfair to every hard-working, tax-paying immigrant who is here legally.

Remember, in Europe, if you are there illegally they kick you out.

Don't you think that we should too?

John-John

If you haven't noticed by now, sometimes I think random thoughts.

Maybe it is because of the funeral and I was thinking about losing family members.  But, for some reason, I was thinking about the Kennedys.  There was a thing recently about Caroline Kennedy, she was in the news for being an ambassador or something.  So, her personal fortune was released and it was like half a bagillion dollars or something.

And, you know what I thought, I would give back the half a gazillion to get my brother, mother and father back.

You know?

Anyway, then I started thinking about the Kennedys.  They have a lot of money.  They have always been big-time democrats.  And, I get it.  They really want to help people, they want to give some of that money to people who are less fortunate.

But, the government doesn't do a very good job of helping people.  In fact, they kinda stink at it.  Here is what happens when you give money to the government.

They set up an office.  They rent the office, buy all of those cool office supplies, expensive desks and chairs.  Then they hire people.  They have to set up interviews, second interviews.  Then there is all of the drug testing, etc.

Still haven't helped anyone yet.

They just don't do an efficient job of helping people.

What they could do instead is put money in a trust or set up a foundation.  They could decide who gets the money and give it directly to those people.  Yes, there will be some money that goes to administration.  But, the amount of the dollar that goes to people in need is significantly more from private donations than from the government.

Pause

We are traveling for a funeral.

It has given me a moment to pause and think about things.  Life is so short, it is so fragile.  We are only here for a little while.

While I will continue to rant :) I want to let go of all of the worrying that accompanies the rants.

I am in mourning for our country.  I am truly saddened by all that we have lost and all that we are going to lose in the next few years.

But, while I mourn, I need to remember that we still live in the greatest country in the world.  We have to stay strong, continue to rely on God, and know that everything will be ok.

That is one thing that (maybe) some people don't realize or they are just not thinking about it - God is in charge of this country.  He is in charge of congress and he is even in charge of O-O, um, excuse me, Obama.  Whether we like it or know it or not.

So, I just wanted to pause and put everything in perspective, just for a little while.

Fine

And what is the deal with the fine for not getting health insurance?

Why aren't people talking about that in a more outraged way?  It is more like, "Oh, people will pay the fine rather than sign up." Or, "Employers will choose to pay the fine rather than to insure people."

Really?  People will volunteer to pay fines?  How much are they?  Who has to pay them?  Why was this allowed to happen?

Can you think of anything less American or less affordable than paying a fine for not doing something?  Why aren't people more upset about having to pay a fine for choosing not to do something?

I don't get it, do you?

Arrogance

Ok, I can't let the fact that Kathleen Sebelius won't testify before congress go yet.

I know that Obama is super arrogant.  He just doesn't care, he thinks that all of us are beneath him.  He loves spending our money, hanging out with stars, riding in the jet, fancy vacations.  But, the rest of the president stuff, not so much.  He doesn't like going to security briefings, he isn't crazy about the situation room and he really doesn't like icky stuff like talking to political opponents.  Ewwww!

So, that has kinda rubbed off on his staff.  It's the tone at the top.  The tone at the top currently is, "Hey, guys, let's do whatever we want, run the country into the ground and we don't have to answer to anybody.  Hurry, they may catch on."

Nope, nobody is catching on.  Take all the time you need.

So, Lois Lerner destroyed political opponents using her power at the IRS.  She didn't have to testify before congress, she plead the fifth.  Now, she is retired and collecting her large government pension.

Eric Holder is in contempt of congress, twice, for lying.  He still has his job, still pulling down that huge government salary.

And, now Kathleen Sebelius, the head of health and human services, won't testify before congress.  Congress wants to know why the website is a complete failure, what it will take to fix it, how much it will cost, etc.  These are perfectly reasonable things that any employer should know about an employee.  They are also perfectly reasonable questions.  Congress and the American people deserve the answers.

Imagine if this were the real world.  You know the world where you have to make things and produce things and provide goods and services.  If you don't, you go out of business, that world.  Let's visit that world for a moment.

Imagine an employee was given a huge project.  The project not only went over budget, it is going to cost triple the initial cost estimates.  And, the project doesn't actually do what it is supposed to do.

The person in charge of that project would be FIRED.  Not sent home to keep collecting a fat paycheck.  Not sent home to apply for unemployment and collect 2 fat paychecks and not even sent home to collect a pension.  FIRED.  You leave the building and you don't get anything.

That isn't what is happening.  That arrogance is coming through again.  She refuses to testify before congress.

It makes me think that, possibly, she doesn't care that the website doesn't work.  Shouldn't she be reassuring everybody, working to get to the bottom of it and letting us know that she will fix it?  No.  Does she care that all of those people she is supposed to care about so much STILL don't have health insurance?

The website cost millions and it is going to cost millions more.  Doesn't she care that all of that money from hard working taxpayers was wasted?  Don't the people who paid for it deserve to know what is happening?

Doesn't she want to help all of those people who don't have it, get insurance?

So arrogant.

Debate

Remember when there was a debate?  Like, people used to talk about things?

Remember that?  Think back.

I wrote a lot about the time period when debate was dying.  I didn't realize, at the time, that debate would end.

There was a period of time, let's say, 2000-2008 when, if you said something to a tolerant, open-minded liberal, (and he or she didn't agree with you) he or she would yell, scream, assault your character and leave the room.

But, hey, at least we had a dialogue going!

Now, led by Obama, debate is a thing of the past.

Liberals don't need to discuss, debate, negotiate or talk about anything.  It is beneath them.

This strategy is working on an unsuspecting public.

It is simple really:
1. Yell loudly so that your opponent can't say anything,
2. If your opponent listens to your argument and then makes salient points destroying your argument, attack your opponent's character,
3.  If your opponent is still standing after those attacks, leave the room, you are better than them anyway.

And, that is exactly what is happening.  Debate, logical discussion, reason and compromise are all thrown out the window.

Reagan said that liberals aren't stupid, it's just that everything they think they know is wrong.  And, that is so true.  If they want money for all of the things that they love, raising taxes isn't the way to do it.  It's the opposite.

The Obamacare rollout has been a complete disaster.  Everyone knows it.  Getting the website right wasn't even something that anyone would have expected to go wrong.  But, it did.  It went terribly wrong.  Even Jon Stewart knew it.  Kathleen Sebelius, Jack Lew and Obama had no clue how many people had signed up.  You can't pull one like that over on a tech savvy, young population, guys!  You should have had the number and you know it.

Now, we are finding out that the sign-ups are a mess.  People did it wrong, it cost millions of dollars to do it the first time and now it is going to take millions more to fix it.

Businesses have to take time away from making things, inventing, producing.  They have to spend lots of money, money that they don't have, all to comply with and pay for this healthcare law.

Can't you see how that destroys an economy?  Because while everyone is shouting, "Healthcare for everyone!" Our entire system is crumbling.

So, Kathleen, Jack, Barack, walk out of the room, don't say anything.

I have figured a way out of all this mess!

I am going to become Amish.

My dog and I were strolling through my neighborhood and I was looking at all of those signs for all of those tax levies.  (Please see my previous post, Local Taxes.)

And, I was thinking, "What am I going to do?!?"  The dog didn't have any ideas.  Then, I saw an Amish guy working on a roof and I figured out the solution:

I will become Amish!

Ok, I will be limited in my fashion options, but I won't ever have to do my hair again and that elastic waistband - I love those things.

Plus, think of all the benefits - the Amish don't pay any taxes.

Our property taxes are going through the roof - if I was Amish, I wouldn't have to pay property taxes.

Our sales taxes just went up again, if I was Amish, no sales taxes.

My city charges local income taxes that are outrageous.  (The hood, remember.). Even if you work in another city, well you practically have to since there are no businesses here due to outrageous taxation, and you pay taxes in the city in which you work, you STILL HAVE TO PAY INCOME TAXES TO THIS CITY.

I think there is a name for that - double taxation.

But, if I was Amish, I could make as much money as I want and I wouldn't have to pay income taxes.

And, I haven't even gotten to the cheese yet.  Think of all that fresh, delicious cheese.  And, I won't have to stop on the highway to get it or pay those high prices.  Also, I would have beautiful, hand-crafted, high-quality furniture in every room.

Ah.

That's it, I am going to become Amish.

La La Land

I had to take a break.  There is only so much of this nonsense that one person can take.  So, I turned on Harry Potter.  I have only seen it, like, 50 times.

You know why I like Harry Potter?  I am not alone, there are a few other people out there who like it, too, I think.

In Harry Potter, good is good, evil is evil.  In this series, like in life, in order to defeat evil, you have to name it and then fight against it.

There is a point when Harry actually gets smeared by the government because they don't want to see evil.  I bet he felt a lot like a Republican at that point.

They call him a liar, crazy, they completely assault his character, just because he knows that evil exists and they don't want to see it.

Wait a minute.  Hunh, that sounds really familiar.

Well, Harry fans, we need to pull together to fight another day.  That day will be really soon because this whole battle has to be fought again in, like, a few months.

Make calls, talk to people, get our good message out there.

We have to halt the destruction of over-taxation.  We have to stand up for ourselves.  We have to fight against this.  (See previous post, The Boston Tea Party.)

We have to fight for the free market, it is worth it.  Socialism has failed the world over, we have to keep fighting for this republic, it is worth it.

Ooo, it is that great part where Harry battles evil.

Gotta go and battle evil.

Hey, you go battle evil, too.

Still in bizarro world

So, the Democrats and Obama got everything that they wanted.

The debt ceiling will be raised.  Raising the debt ceiling was something that Democrats (rightly) opposed during the Bush administration.  They called it a failure of leadership, irresponsible and unpatriotic.

Why isn't anyone talking about that?

While Democrats called Republicans arsonists, terrorists, etc, why didn't one single person say, "Hey, wait a minute, you were against raising the debt ceiling before.  Why are you for it now? Why do you call it 'moving the country forward?'  Why do you call someone who doesn't want to raise the debt ceiling now all of those awful names?"

Wait, the media should be doing this.  Our watchdog media shouldn't let politicians get away with this.  They should be investigating all of these inconsistencies and going after these people.

Oh, yeah.

Sigh.

The Democrats got full funding for every single bloated government bureaucracy that they wanted.  Will there ever be a meaningful discussion of cutting our wasteful government spending?  The president and Democrats refused to compromise at all.  Not once in this entire ordeal did they give in to a single demand.  They called Republicans all sorts of terrible names and got everything that they wanted.

Obamacare was fully funded, no changes, no delays for us.  Only Obama's buddies and biggest supporters got those.  Unions backed Obama coast to coast based on the healthcare law, then they saw what was in it, saw that costs would skyrocket, decided that they didn't want it, so Obama exempted them.

But you aren't exempted.  You aren't Obama's buddy.  You are stuck with it.

And, here is the best part: not one problem was solved.  Because the Democrats and Obama refuse to solve any problems.  They want our debt to grow.  They want us to have a $3.7 trillion annual deficit.  They want America to fail.  They want Americans to lose jobs.  They got it all.

In just 3 months, about 13 weeks, we are going to have to do it all again.

Republicans, we need to get our act together.  We need to make our position clear, concise and get it out there.

We are the party of:
freedom,
liberty,
personal responsibility,
lower taxes,
limited government,
the free market,
technology,
innovation,
ingenuity,
states rights,
religious freedom and
tolerance.

Now, Democrats and Obama have labeled us:
Extremists,
A Hate Group,
Arsonists (can someone explain that to me)
Terrorists,
Radicals.

I am not sure how Democrats take the worst possible policies package it as "We love puppies and want to give people free stuff" and make it work.  Remember, we have Detroit.  Every possible liberal policy has had an opportunity to work, unchecked.  You get bankruptcy.  Period.

If we continue to let every liberal policy an opportunity to run rampant, the country is going to be bankrupt.  Period.

Republicans want to give people their freedom.  Freedom to live and work how they choose.  We have to get that message out there.

Remember, giving people free stuff doesn't help them.  After 60 years of the war on poverty and trillions spent, poverty is worse than ever.

We need to make our message sound a lot more like, "We love puppies."

Bizarro World

We're living in it.

If a Republican president had a program that worked so poorly that you couldn't even operate its website after having 3 years to get it right,

The media would start a tirade and the president would go down in flames.

If a Republican president used the IRS to intimidate, torment and ruin the lives of his (or her) political opponents,

The media would be up in arms and his (or her) political career would be over.

If a Republican president went to: bed, Las Vegas or God only knows where (good thing they don't believe in God!)  during a 7-hour terrorist attack which left 4 Americans including an ambassador dead,

The media would be outraged.  They would investigate until every detail was discovered, then they would roast that president over an open flame.

If a Republican president made a campaign promise (or a promise while in a previous office) then flip-flopped and went totally against those promises over and over,

Investigative, watchdog, liberal media-types would turn up every tape, every newsreel, every Internet post and would play those inconsistencies until every American had them memorized.  They would be so outraged and morally indignant that they would wear flip-flops to White House press briefings.

Speaking of those...

If a Republican White House press secretary said things that were proven to be lies over and over again,

Liberal journalists, who protect the interests of the people, would shout it from the rooftops so loudly that the secretary would be fired.

Speaking of firings...

If a Republican attorney general was in contempt of congress not once, but twice,

The watchdog media would (rightly) rant and rave until he was fired.

And, if a Republican director of health and human services couldn't say how many people signed up for a Republican piece of "signature" legislation,

He or she would be mocked by the media until he or she was forced to resign.

We are currently living in bizarro world.

Cave in

Well, it is almost certain.  The Republicans are going to cave in on everything.

The childish, hissy-fit tantrum that Obama has thrown all over the country actually worked.  He is going to get everything that he wants and America will continue on its path to total destruction.

I am sick.  I need, like some ice cream or bacon or something.

What I don't understand (see every single one of my previous posts) is how one single, thinking person can possibly believe the lying, double-speak of the democrats and the president.

I understand that not everyone is an accountant, I do.

But, when the president says that healthcare costs are going down and someone is sitting there with the healthcare increase in their hands, they can see that it isn't true, right?

When the president says that he wants to create jobs and then raises taxes on small businesses so that they can't hire more people, they see that that policy doesn't create jobs, right?  Small businesses create about 80% of the jobs in this country and they are being crushed by this job-killing, tax-soaking, economy-strangling president!

I understand that most people may not fully grasp the entire debt ceiling issue.  We won't default if the debt ceiling isn't raised.  If the debt ceiling isn't raised, we will only have to prioritize our bills and pay the interest on what is the most important stuff.  You know, like every single person, family and business has to do in the entire country.

The democrats are even wanting to go back on the teensy-weensy sequester cuts.  Those were the only sane thing that has happened in the past 5 years.  They were actually proposed by (and then demonized by) Obama.

There is a reason that I call these rants.

I am disgusted, I am sick.  Aren't you?

Get a tissue

I am going to tell you a story.  It is a story about a place, a place where people are free.  In this place, everyone has the exact same opportunities no matter what color or religion you are.  It is a place where Christians and Jews live side by side.  Black and white people are neighbors and they share bundt cakes.  It is a place where, no matter if you are black, white, yellow, red or purple you can work hard and be whatever you want to be.

In this land, in Florida, something happened which is completely consistent with everything that I just said.

In Florida, a young lady and gentleman were crowned homecoming king and queen at their high school.  The young people were black and had Down's Syndrome.  The picture that I saw online showed the young king and queen walking across the field.  It was adorable, but that wasn't what made me reach for the Kleenex.

Captured in the background were the homecoming court and a football player.  Each one of those young people was wearing a kind and loving smile on their faces.

Kinda like the one that you are wearing right now.

American Exceptionalism

On the Today Show, 5 hosts couldn't articulate much of anything that makes America exceptional.  They stumbled and mumbled and mentioned cheese and hot dogs.  The segment was praising Europe and saying that Europeans live better than Americans.

Please see my previous post, "A little bit about socialism."

So, according to NBC, tax-crippled Europe is better than America and to prove it they couldn't think of anything exceptional about America.

Matt Lauer, this one is for you.

A brief list of things that make America exceptional:
1. The Internet
2. Aviaton
3. Energy technology
4. Medical treatments, discoveries and technology
5. Movies
6. Humanitarian aid to millions of people around the world
7. Bourbon
8. The most generous people in the world
9. Tax deductions for charitable giving, which helps us be the most generous people in the world and Obama is trying to get rid of
10. Rock and roll
11. The Constitution
12. The first amendment
Countless innovations and technological advancements that have made us the greatest nation in the history of the world.

Why are we trying to deny it?

Welfare riots

I am really concerned about our welfare system.  It is there to give people a hand (see my first healthcare post).  No one in this country who is truly needy can't get benefits.  But, that really isn't the problem or the issue at all.

The problem is the misuse and abuse of the programs.  And, the problem is in the heart of the people who use and abuse the programs.

Here is an example.  Over the weekend, a mistake was made on EBT cards in some states.  Some of the cards had unlimited spending amounts.  So, people took everything that they could grab off the shelves in Wal-Mart.  They literally cleared the shelves like it was Black Friday and got everything that they could.

Hmmm.  I don't think that the problem is the program.  The problem here originates in the heart.

If I was on government assistance, I wouldn't take the extra stuff even if the card had unlimited funds.  I would get what I need, that's it.

What would you do?

Would you steal the extra stuff?  It is stealing, taking stuff that doesn't belong to you.

On the other end of the spectrum, some cards didn't have any money on them at all.  People walked into Wal-Mart, took what they needed (or wanted) and didn't pay at all.  Managers had to close the store.

Evil comes out of our hearts, from the desire to want something else more than we want God.  We need to fill up our God-shaped void with, well, God.
