My day at the polls

I mention that again because I can't stress enough that provisional ballots have got to be the only way that people can perpetuate voter fraud.

I need to talk to my guy at the board of elections and I also need to follow up with another person I met who has witnessed fraud.  But, I know you were all waiting on the edge of your seats to hear about my day.

A provisional ballot can be filled out if a person has:
1.  moved, and has not had time to change their address with the board of elections.  I thought that there used to be a time limit, like if you moved and didn't change your address before a certain time, sorry, you can't vote.  But, it's not like that.  If a person moved after the poll books have been printed, their name will be in the poll book at the old location.  They could go to that location, vote and no one would have any idea that they moved after the poll books were printed. 

The person could then go to the "new" polling location (or any polling location for that matter) and vote provisionally.  BUT, the person who takes those ballots out and counts them, should cross check and catch the fact that the person voted twice and the incorrect ballot should be thrown out.

Does that happen?  I don't know.  But, that, right there is the best possible way to vote more than once.  Now, we had 6 provisional ballots, ok?  So, this is not a huge amount of votes.  I hope that a large quantity of provisional ballots sends up a red flag at HQ.  Know what I mean?

2.  forgotten their id, one couple came in, the husband had his license, the wife didn't.  He voted.  She filled out a provisional ballot and voted, too.  It was fine.  Another couple came in, same story.  He had his ID and she didn't.  He voted.  She threw a conniption fit and wouldn't fill out the provisional form for us.  She didn't vote.

But, we scratched our heads about that one all day long.  Why did she freak out?  Why would she want people to come in and vote without IDs?  Or, was she a plant?

We had to write her up - "lady, unhinged, no vote"

3.  absentee voters  It used to be that you had to be out of the country or something to vote absentee.  But, now, anyone can request an absentee ballot.  You can request an absentee ballot and still come into your precinct and vote provisionally.

(Are you starting to see why I am harping on this whole provisional thing?)

Now, the board of elections has marked on the poll books each person who has requested an absentee ballot.  They can't vote regularly.  But, they could have sent in the absentee and still vote provisionally.

Again, I am going to talk to my guy (Phil) and ask him about exactly what happens to those provisional ballots.  I'll let you know.

OK, we had 6 Democrats and 3 Republicans.  I guess that was as balanced as it was going to get.  And, you have to have 2 people from opposing political parties doing everything.  So, guess what that meant?  "Hey, Republican!  Come here!"  No, it was fine.  I didn't mind.

Let me be quick to say that our team of complete strangers worked together beautifully.  In 15 long, hard hours, we didn't have one single snarky, rude, snotty comment.

All day long it was like this, "Can I have that, please?" "Sure." "Thank you." "You're welcome."  We got a little slap happy near the end, but not one cross word passed among us.

Isn't that cool?

So, our little motley crew was stationed in an upscale, affluent area a few miles from my house.  Stately, century homes stand sentinel along tree lined streets.  It is Americana, it is beautiful. 

It is inhabited by old hippies.  (There are a few professionals, but not many.)

In their sandals and gray pony tails, 80% of the people had their democrat voting card in their hands and they all had their flyers out for all of the tax levies.  We had to ask them to put them away.

But, if that was any indication, all of the tax levies are going to pass.  (See previous post, Local Taxes.) Oh, and by the way, I was wrong.  There are 5 tax levies.  One might not make it.  But, the other four should pass with flying colors.  That being said, please click on an ad occasionally.  That is how I make money from the blog so that I can pay my taxes. 

And, I do think that those people truly believe that they are helping people.  They give out of their excess to the "greater good."  They will get out their checkbooks, dole out an extra $200 or $300 a year to the parks, schools, ports and libraries.  And, they will feel good about it.

They don't even comprehend for one second that some people can't afford all of those tax increases and will lose their homes.  They don't believe it.  Isn't it interesting that elite liberals can't even UNDERSTAND the plight of the middle class?  In my work against the levies, I mentioned to a progressive liberal that people could lose their homes if all of the levies pass.  She snorted (it was rather unladylike) and said, "I don't believe that for a second."  So, I looked it up (thanks, Al) called her back and gave her the information so she could see for herself.

So, back at the polls, there wasn't a complete devotion to the principle of two people from opposing political parties at every activity.  I did have to insist that I do one job.  It was ok, but two democrats were going to do it.  And, that's just not right.  Right?

Another thing that was really interesting to me was how many people complained about having to show their IDs.  I couldn't believe it.  The gal I was working with said it was because she was black.  I was like, "No way."  And she was like, "Way."

Seriously, about 7 people REALLY complained about having to show their ID.  One said it was unconstitutional.  One lady I have known for 10 years.  I was truly surprised that she didn't want to show her ID.  I am going to call her and find out why.

OK, I think that is all that I have to report from my day at the polls.  It was certainly an interesting experience.

A democrat and I had to drive all of the ballots to a drop off location.  We arrived at the drop off point and were told not to get out of the car.  The minivan was then surrounded (I swear it was like being attacked by a band of orcs) and within 2 seconds every single box and bag was out of the car.

As we drove back to her car, we talked about what a great group we had, what a good job we did, how well we all worked together, etc, etc, etc,.  I said it was great, yada, yada.

When she got out of the car, she said, "Great, there is a primary in the spring, I'll see you then!"

Wait, what?!?!?

Chicago

Ok, this is poorly written.  It is clearly not my writing style, I didn't write it.  But, I took out the most egregious grammatical flaws, corrected my beloved typos and wanted to share this with you.

We also have Detroit as a model.  But, here is the breakdown of the statistics of Chicago.  Chicago is a liberal paradise, there are no Republicans in office.  So, based on the liberal ideology, Chicago should be a paradise of love, peace and neighborhood gardens, right?

Nope.  Here goes, as promised, Chicago:

. This is the political culture that Obama comes from in Illinois . And he is going to 'fix' Washington politics for us???
. George Ryan is no longer Governor, he is in the big house.
. Of course he was replaced by Rob Blajegovitch who is...that's right, also in the big house.
. And Representative Jesse Jackson Jr. resigned a couple of weeks ago. That is because he is fighting being sent to...that's right, the big house.

But you know what? As long as they keep providing entitlements to the population of Chicago , nothing is going to change, except the state will go broke before the country does.

Defense

A reader has asked me to blog about a topic.

The reader asked a liberal friend how he can continue to defend Obama despite the fact that Obama feigns ignorance on every conceivable thing that has happened during his entire tenure as president.

The liberal said, "Well, he can't be expected to know everything that goes on in the whole government!"

When the reader was telling me this, I shouted, "They sure expected Bush to know absolutely everything that went on in the government!"

The reader, who was previously in an executive position with lots of people to manage, went on.  She explained that she didn't know everything that went on with every single person.  But, if a manager knew there was a problem and didn't tell her (the reader) about the problem, the manager would have been in big trouble!

So, that brings me back to Obama and his leadership style.  So far, his "total ignorance" defense has been working for him.

I heard someone (it might have been the very effective manager, Herman Cain) say that Obama has his management set up all wrong.  An executive can effectively manage 4 or so managers who report directly to him.  If you have many more than that, you just can't work with all of the managers effectively. Then, when problems arise, you can't keep track of them all.

He went on to say that control freak Obama has 65 high level managers report directly to him.

What?!?

I remember the media saying that George W Bush surrounded himself with the best and the brightest.  (I think it was actually supposed to be an insult to his intelligence because they thought he was stupid.). But, of course, he wasn't stupid.  He was the farthest thing from it.  He knew he couldn't possibly manage everything that went on in the entire federal government.  So, he appointed capable people to key positions.  He had some practice with managing Texas, if you remember.

A lot about Obama's management style came out during the 2012 election.  He played more golf in his first year in office than his predecessor played in 8 years.  Security briefings?  He doesn't go to them.  He doesn't do a lot of stuff that a president is supposed to do.

He spends a lot of time with movie stars and in Las Vegas.

Plus, Obama hasn't surrounded himself with the best and brightest.  He has surrounded himself with bumbling idiots.

Attorney General, Eric Holder, remains, to this day, in contempt of congress.  He has whole-heartedly worked to: make it illegal for voters to show ID (showing IDs to vote is supported by over 90% of people).  And, he keeps himself busy each day with suing the states for things like, not allowing in and paying benefits to illegal aliens.

Lois Lerner gleefully tortured Obama's political opponents to sideline them just in time for the election.

Chuck Hagel didn't step foot near a military cemetery until he was forced to, to save face.

And, now, Kathleen Sebelius is so incompetent that she can't even get a website up and running.

No, I was wrong, bumbling, law-breaking idiots.

So, he doesn't really do a lot of stuff that is required by the office, like show up.  He has an inordinate amount of managers who report to him.  All of the managers seem to be completely incompetent.  He doesn't require anything more out of them, like competence.

Is it any wonder that Obama doesn't have any idea what is going on in his own administration?

Or does he?

Let's see who continues to defend him.

Thatcher

Doesn't that just totally resonate with what is happening right now?  We don't elect leaders like Thatcher and Reagan anymore.  Steely resolve in the face of evil is no longer a benchmark for greatness.  Likability, "tolerance," middle ground, compromise, reaching out to the other side is what we want.

So, why are we surprised that we get wishy-washy, flip-floppy leaders?  We mock a leader who calls evil, evil.  We don't want to see evil for what it is.  That is "intolerant." Even liberal Hollywood knows that the fight between good and evil is what life is all about!  (See previous post, La la land)

I was around in the 80s and journalists loved communism.  They waxed philosophic about it constantly.  And, they HATED Reagan.  They say all sorts of great stuff about him now, but they hated him then.

At Reagan's funeral, Katie Couric said, "We all united in the fight against communism."  Of course, now that Reagan defeated communism, it is easy to say that.  But, the liberal media was not "united" with him at the time.

During the Bush years, I noticed that the media felt the exact same way about him as they did about Reagan.  But, he bent over backwards trying to work with the other side.  It was never enough.  Whatever he did, they criticized.

Now, the media worships Obama.  He can do no wrong, they will do anything to protect him, to cover up his lies.

Is this helping us?  Is it helping our country?

Is being "liked" accomplishing anything?

Poll worker

Well, I'm goin' in!

I just spent the day training to be a poll worker.  Wow, it was scary, seriously.

Within the first 20 minutes, I had positively identified 3 ways that people who (really) wanted to could commit voter fraud.

Remember, I am doing this to be the only Republican and to ensure that there ISN'T voter fraud.

The big problem is provisional ballots.  Anyone can walk in from anywhere with no ID and vote.  Now, that ballot shouldn't be counted.  But, when the person counting the votes really wants, say, the communist candidate to win, and they are doing it for the "greater good" he or she may count the provisional ballots that shouldn't be counted.

See what I mean?

There is supposed to be a Republican and a Democrat doing everything together.  When there aren't any Republicans, what do they do?

I can't wait to find out.

There also are two places where people can put in ballots that shouldn't be there.  Again, if everyone is for one guy, they might let those slide through.  And, the way primary voting works could be a problem.

But, this is a general election.  I have to report to work on Tuesday at 5:30 am and be there until 8:30 pm.

Golden Girls

Last  summer, I was on a business trip.  As I was getting ready to go to a meeting, I was flipping through the channels and landed on an episode of Golden Girls.

Remember that show?  Bea Arthur, Estelle Getty, Betty White and Rue McClanahan were swinging 60 year olds in their retirement community in Boca?

Betty White looked fantastic.

Anyhoo, the story line caught my attention.

Estelle Getty was in the hospital.  She told some people that she was on Medicaid.  They all took two steps away from her.  Like, "euwww!"

Isn't that funny?  The show was on from 1985 to 1992.  So sometime in the last generation, we have a gone from a society that looks down on government dependence to one that demands it as a right.

The main story line, though, was Bea Arthur.  A (young!) Martin Mull was taking "Meals on Wheels" meals that she was delivering.  She was outraged that a young, healthy man would take charity meant for those who were unable to care for themselves.  Here was a young man, clearly he could take care of himself.

She decided to help him stand on his own two feet.  Which, of course, she did.  And, she did it in 30 minutes and still rescued her mother from the hospital where she had been left accidentally.

Those crazy gals.

Again, this was about 25 years ago.

What has happened to us?

Can you even imagine a story line like that today?  Of course not.  Our country has changed, fundamentally.  We have gone from a country of people who were proud of liberty and independence to one that cherishes less freedom and more dependence.  We demand it, in fact.  We call dependence on government a "right."

I can't believe how much we have changed and in so little time.

Halloween

Well, it's official.

I am the crazy lady in my neighborhood.

Last night was Halloween, of course.  We usually get a lot of trick or treaters.  I have a cauldron, fill it up with the good stuff and give it all away.  I want to do it.

Now, I am none too keen on the parents also opening a bag and asking for candy.  Come on.

So, last night one little boy was standing at my door with his little mouth hanging open and said, "Wow!  This is a nice house.  This is a really nice house!"

I said, "Thank you."

You probably guessed, I didn't stop there.

I said, "Did you know that you can grow up and get a house just as nice as this one?"

He said, "No," and cut his eyes to the candy cauldron.

I said, "If you stay in school and work hard you can grow up and have a nice house, too.  This is the only country where you can do that, you know."

By that time the rest of the group was like, "trick or treat!"  Like, they were in a rush or something?

As they dashed off, I said, "Stay in school, little man!"

There you go, I am the crazy lady on my street who gives out the good candy.
