Shutdown

I know that you haven't been waiting by your computer holding your breath to hear what I have to say.  And, I guess it is a good thing.

I don't know what to say.

Obama has said (and has always said) that he will not:
1. Budge
2. Negotiate
3. Sit down with Republicans
4. Make a deal on anything

And, all the while he calls his colleagues who disagree with him, for legitimate reasons, school yard bully names.  He has called the Republicans, who were elected by the people to keep him in check, bullies, terrorists and arsonists. ?!?!?

How is it that people can't see through this?

Harry Reid and the president absolutely refuse to compromise AT ALL.  Yet, they are still blaming the shutdown on the Republicans.  And, people are actually believing it.

If Obamacare is supposed to cost less, why do we need government funding for it in order for it to move forward?

Why? Why? Why?

Does Harry Reid hate America?  Seriously, why?

He knows what is going on.  Obamacare is destroying our way of life.  Young people no longer even expect the American dream.  They don't even know what it is.  Young people fully expect to graduate from college with an insurmountable debt, have no job prospects and sped their 20s asking, "Do you want fries with that?"

This isn't just something that only Fox News is covering anymore.  It was on the front page of Yahoo this morning that Obamacare is destroying the economy.

Obama knows it is, that is what he wants.  He fundamentally hates America, its freedoms, the free market and everything that American stands for.

But why, why, why does every single democrat fall in line behind this?  Why doesn't one single democrat stand up and say, "Hold on!  This isn't what I signed up for!"

If democrats fundamentally want to help people, they need to stand up and demand that Obama's destructive policies stop.  The worst part is, these policies hurt the poorest people the most.  Poverty has increased under Obama.  3% more Americans live in poverty than when he took office.

The tax-laden, job-killing, economy-strangling policies of Obama need to stop.  And, it will only happen if one democrat can have the courage to stand up and say something.

Sick

Well, this redneck is sick, sick as a dog.

Want to know why I don't go to see a doctor?

First, you can't get an appointment to see a doctor for 3 weeks.  By then, I will be well, I hope.

They never know what is wrong.  They make a whole bunch of guesses, give you, like, a million prescriptions and make sure you pay on the way out.

And, about the paying.  Our insurance premiums have doubled in the past few years.  And, we have a really high deductible.  Fortunately we have a health savings plan, but did you on know that Obama wants to get rid of those?

I guess I could try to see a doctor.  But, to pay for it, I would need to commit a felony on the way or renounce my citizenship.  I am not prepared to do either one of those.

If anyone has some unexpired antibiotics, let me know.

Guess who?

Intolerant

Angry

Hateful

Have you guessed yet?  I bet you have.  Liberals!

They are completely intolerant.  It is their way or the highway. If you have a difference of opinion or disagree with them in anyway, you are stupid, evil, racist.

Why are they so angry?  I am not quite sure about that.  But, if you try to talk to a liberal, good luck.  When you make salient points, they just attack your character.

And, hateful, boy do they hate Christians and, increasingly, they hate Jews.

If you understand that global warning was a complete farce, you hate the environment.

If you want to drill for our own energy here and stop messing around with buying oil from the Middle East, you also hate the environment.  That one completely baffles me because didn't they hate George Bush for going to "war for oil?"

If you judge a person by the content of their character instead of the color of their skin, you are a racist.

If you are Christian, you are "radical, extreme".

If you believe in your right to bear arms, which was and is extremely important, I guess that makes you radical and extreme, too.  The reason the second amendment is in our constitution is because Lords could come to your peasant shack and shoot you in England, which is why we jumped ship and left.

Anyway, they are now in charge of taxes, health care.  Gosh, even the US Postal service has a campaign to distance itself from the government!

All this stuff worries me.

Can you guys comment on this stuff?  I would love to hear from somebody.

Healthcare

Ok, it had to be said, you knew it was coming.  There is this little thing called the Affordable Care Act that has been bothering me.

As you already know, it is the most unaffordable thing ever created.  Premiums are going up anywhere from 25% to 300%, yes people are seeing a tripling in their insurance premiums.

Unions, who elected Obama and taunted the law, have demanded to be exempt from it because of the cost.

Congress, who passed it, has exempted itself from it.

Republicans have agreed to fund the government, everything except Obamacare.

Democrats keep blaming the Republicans for wanting to shut down the government but that simply isn't true.

Obama said that he will not negotiate with Republicans.  Period.  End of story.

So, then I go back to all of those democrats who have been elected by real people to represent the interests of said people.  Why are they ignoring the wishes of their constituents?  If 70% of people are against Obamacare, shouldn't 70% of senators vote against Obamacare right now or plan on losing their jobs in November of 2014?  That would be enough votes to override a presidential veto, btw.

???

I mean, I keep looking at all of these elite, obscenely wealthy, liberal senators.  They have taken our money to pay for their insurance premiums.  Then, they have no problem sticking the higher costs to hard-working, American families.  They know that insurance premiums are going up across the board.  They know that spouses are losing coverage, families are losing coverage.  They are supposed to be the ones who care about people?  Are you kidding me?!?!?

When is just one democrat senator going to stand up for what is right?  When?

Leadership 2

Obama just said, in an address to the UN, that the world is more stable than it was five years ago.

Um...

Yeah...

Right...

He then went on to describe a litany of terror attacks that have happened just in the last few weeks and months.

Ugh!

Leadership

I was driving to work the other day.  It was really early in the morning so instead of music, it was some weird program on the radio. On the program, the mayor of Cleveland, Frank Jackson, was speaking.    (I am getting to the point.). The mayor of Cleveland was saying something like this, "I have done a whole lot of great stuff during the past eight years and I want 4 more years as mayor to do lots more great stuff."  I am paraphrasing.

So, I started thinking about all of the great things that he has done.  And, here is what I heard in my head:

Cricket, cricket.

I couldn't think of one thing.  Then, I realized that this is a new trend.  (This is the point). People completely ignore their records and look right in the camera and say, "hey, I have done a whole lot of great stuff!  And, I'm going to keep on doing it!"

You may have guessed who else does this.  Obama.  He completely ignores his record, looks right in the camera and says everything is hunky-dory.

Foreign policy - he says that we are stronger than ever, we are weaker than ever as a direct result of his policies and are the laughing stock of the world,

Jobs - he says that his administration has added jobs.  Maybe part-time jobs and government jobs have been added.  But, his market-strangling policies are crippling business, destroying the economy and job creation,

The economy - this is such a joke, I am not sure where to start.  Um, 46 million people are on food stamps, the debt is through the roof, literally, we have to keep raising the roof, unemployment is over 7%, that is just shameful.  Tell you what, go get some gas and go to the grocery store, you will see how bad it is which leads me to:

Energy - if we started fracking the heck out of this place, getting our own oil and gas, and opened the Keystone pipeline, thousands of people would get jobs, the price of gas and then everything would drop dramatically.  Obama is working hard to destroy the coal industry, too, but that's another story.

Did you know that median American income is lower than it was in 1989.  Ah, 1989, what's a fantastic year that was.  We defeated communism at the same time, didn't we?

I digress...

If a Republican had a record like this, every single media outlet would go over each aspect with a fine toothed comb, and would run the person out of office.  Why aren't they doing that now?  Why is every single journalist and democratic politician falling in line behind all of this.  Do they all hate America and want it to fail?  I am waiting to hear of one, just one, democrat who will stand up and say, "No more! This man is destroying the country and I won't be a party to it!"

Is this leadership?  No, it isn't.  Leadership is about leading - taking responsibility for your actions, acknowledging mistakes and fixing them.  Leadership is not about pretending that everything is great and collecting a paycheck from the taxpayers.

I really expect more from leaders and I hope that you do, too.

Gas prices

So, now when I fill up my gas tank, I sound like an 85 year old person talking to my kids.

“Way back when you were born (12 years ago!) gas was only 99 cents!”

My kids gasp, “Really Mom?  Tell us more!”  And, I do.  I point lots of things out that used to cost less, a lot less.  And, do you know when they cost less?  Yup, that’s right, about 5 years ago.

Are you better off than you were 5 years ago?  Have you noticed that the price of just about everything has gone up between 50 and 100%?  Do you know why?  Of course you do, gas prices.

I recently saw a sign saying, “Stop Fracking!”  So, I looked into it.  Fracking is a way to get natural gas out of the ground.  Fracking takes place about 5,000 feet below ground.  When fracking, several concrete barriers are built between the gas pipe and the soil.  The water table is approximately 100 feet below ground.  Fracking has been going on for many years.

Now, I want to pay lower gas prices.  But, if I say that, there is no logical debate, people say, “You don’t care about the environment!”

Healthcare

Healthcare

Recently, I was given two prescriptions by my dermatologist.  I went to the pharmacy to have them filled.  The pharmacist asked to check my insurance card because AFTER putting it in his system, the prescriptions still cost around $200 EACH!

Thanks to Obama-care, we no longer have real insurance.  We have to pay a $1,500 deductible before our insurance covers doctor visits and prescriptions.

As I left, without the prescriptions, I thought, “If I were an illegal alien, unemployed, or a convicted felon, those prescriptions would have been free.”

This is the healthcare system that we now have – hard working, premium paying Americans can no longer get proper health care.  However, the finest health care system in the world is offered for free to people who are here illegally and don’t pay anything into our system.

I believe that there was nothing wrong with the system before.

When I was pregnant with my first child 12 years ago, my husband was working in Germany.  We could not get healthcare in Germany BECAUSE WE WEREN’T GERMAN CITIZENS.  So, I came home to the States from Germany to have my child.  Interestingly, I had just left my job and was denied coverage under COBRA because of my pre-existing condition – the pregnancy.

What did I do?  I applied for healthcare coverage in Ohio under Head Start.  I did receive coverage.  After finishing graduate school, my husband and I both went back to work and have had traditional health insurance coverage.

See?  People who don’t have coverage and truly need it can get it.  The system was working, I know because I used it!

Now, everyone has to pay more and the people who pay the most don’t have fair insurance coverage.

It doesn’t make any sense.  Can you honestly say that it is fair to give full insurance coverage to people who are in this country illegally?  They don’t do that in Europe.  If you don’t pay into the system, you don’t get coverage, period.

Can you honestly say that it is OK for the unemployed or people in prison to get full healthcare coverage, but a working American can’t?

Taxes

My daughter was recently studying the 100 years war.  In a nutshell, this was a war fought between England and France over higher taxes.  (Look it up- this is the war that Joan of Arc won for France.)

That got me thinking, people used to have the sense to fight when their taxes were raised.

Now, if you don’t want to pay higher taxes, there is no debate, you can’t fight.  If you don’t like taxes going up, people say that means you are selfish and don’t want to help people!

Nothing could be further from the truth.  Helping people and higher taxes have nothing to do with each other!

America is the wealthiest and most generous country in the world.  We are so generous, that, currently, our tax system gives us deductions for donating to charities.

And, there are many charities out there that do a fantastic job of getting things to people in need.  The Red Cross, for example, hands medical supplies to people who need them.  Another local example is my church.  My church offers childcare to single mothers while they get their education.  We also offer job assistance, help with getting housing and food.  Yes, we pack up bags of food and hand it out to needy people.  This is an effective use of my money.  These are real examples of helping people.

The higher my taxes go, the less I can afford to give to effective organizations like the church, the Red Cross, St, Jude’s, etc.

Now, think about a government agency – the post office.  When you think of the post office do you think of efficiency?  Do you think of a helpful organization that gives a valuable service at a reasonable price?  NO!  The postal service raises their rates indiscriminately while simultaneously lowering its services.  And, if you need help, ha!  Get in line and wait!

Is the government effective at helping people?  I don’t think so.  The government creates nothing, it only takes, sets up a bureaucracy and does not do an effective job of helping people.

Lower tax rates, give money back to the people.  We can give that money to people in need!
