I just can't believe this. Have you heard about this young woman? A 13 year old was having a routine tonsillectomy when she started having breathing problems. She lost an excessive amount of blood and within 3 days was brain dead.
It is just so horrible, it is hard to even think about. Imagine going to the hospital for a routine surgery. Then, inexplicably, you lose your child.
But, here is the reason that I am blogging about it - the California hospital in which Jahi is staying wants to take her off life support.
What?!?
I figured that the parents would be the ones who decide whether or not their child stays on life support or not. In this case, no. Since a doctor has pronounced her brain dead, the hospital has no responsibility to keep her on life support and the hospital is pushing to pull the plug.
Is this because of Obamacare?
A judge had to intervene on behalf of the family. He said to keep her on life support until December 30.
My heart goes out to this family. Jahi is on a ventilator. She is alive, I can't even imagine how hard this must be. But, to have to fight with the doctors and the hospital every step of the way makes this completely unbearable.
