Lone Survivor

A new movie is taking the nation by storm.  This movie is not about a relationship between cowboys and it is not about sex or drugs.  Yet, it is still popular.

The movie stars Mark (may not be a liberal) Wahlberg and is based on the book by Marcus Luttrell, a former Navy Seal.  The book and movie are Luttrell's account of events involving his Navy Seal team fighting against Al Qeada terrorists.

Why are people responding to this film?  Could it be because people love America?

Why do liberals and the media dislike this film and its popularity so much?

I believe it is because liberals don't understand war.  First of all, liberals inherently believe that America is bad.  They don't believe that our goals are noble.  Because they think that America is bad, they don't understand that America is something worth fighting for.  So, under no circumstances do they understand the need for war.

Liberals are commonly humanists.  They believe that all humans are good.  They genuinely don't understand that man is inherently bad.  They don't understand that some people genuinely hate us, want to kill us and won't stop until we stop them or we are all dead.

Liberals don't understand that we arm ourselves to protect ourselves from people who hate us.  They don't understand that we have a military to protect us from people who hate our freedom.

They don't understand that we go to war, begrudgingly, as an absolute last resort only to protect ourselves and our way of life.

Why?

They don't believe in American Exceptionalism.  They, typically, oppose the Judeo-Christian ethic.  They actually think that WE are warmongers.

Luttrell, in an interview was asked what he would say to critics who called this film pro-war.  He said that he didn't understand the term pro-war.  There is nothing good about war.  He said that war is horrible, holding your friend as he dies is horrible.  He just couldn't figure out why anyone would even use the term pro-war.

And, that is the great divide that we have right now, it really is a chasm.

Liberals don't understand that America is the greatest country the world has ever known, it is worth defending, it is worth fighting for.

They go on apology tours and blame America first for everything.

Proud Americans understand that America is exceptional and people hate us and want to kill us.  We need to arm ourselves and, as a last resort, go to war to protect this republic.

Will there ever be a bridge to connect these two sides?

I don't know.
