The first amendment is important. Just like other parts of our constitution, it was put in there for a reason.

Back in the day, the king controlled the press. You couldn't say bad stuff about him or you would be arrested. Wait a minute, that is kinda like now. If you criticize Obama, you will get audited.
Anyway, our liberal media has twisted the 1st amendment to mean that we get unlimited access to porn. That isn't what the 1st amendment is about at all. It is about the free movement of ideas. In America, unlike anywhere else in the world, you can state your opinion without fear of retribution from the government.
You can criticize the president, you can have a different point of view, that is ok. And, this is the only place where that has ever been accepted.
The media was very tough on George Bush. That's alright, he can take it. They were also very unfair, their partisanship was on full display. I remember thinking many times between 2000 and 2008, "Hunh, if a democrat did that, the media would love it." No matter what George Bush the media hated it and that is fine.
It is their job to seek the truth, to find the truth and to tell the truth to the American people.
Remember, the reason for this system of reporting - so that bad, tyrannical kings couldn't lie to the people.

Now, the media is not only covering up the truth and ignoring the truth, they are outright lying to the American people.
They have swept scandal after scandal under the rug to protect this president. What I can't figure out is why? Why don't they want Americans to know the truth? Why do they want to protect this president at all costs? Even at the expense of their own journalistic integrity? There used to be a phrase for it, oh yeah, it was journalistic integrity.

*The IRS using its influence to destroy political opponents
*The NSA spying on all Americans, the author of the Patriot Act said that these overreaches were egregious and never intended by the law,
*This Obamacare mess, even the author of the Affordable Care Act says it it not ready,
*And, now, this shutdown.
It hurts but I listen to the main stream media occasionally. They outright lie.
The liberal, mainstream media is actually reporting that the shut down is the fault of Republicans and people are believing them! The Republicans have:
1. passed a bill accepting all of Obama's outrageous, wasteful spending, their only request was to de-fund Obamacare, they didn't even get any tax cuts
NO DEAL the president doesn't negotiate with people who have bombs strapped to their chest (?)
2. passed a bill funding our entire, bloated, out-of-control socialist government, their only request was to delay Obamacare for one year
NO DEAL the president doesn't negotiate with arsonists (? what is on fire exactly ?)
3 and finally in round 3, the Republicans have passed a budget bill which funds every single one of Obama's economy-killing, welfare-state, entitlement programs, and asked only for a one year delay of the individual mandate for Obamacare
NO DEAL the president won't negotiate with people who hold the government hostage
(People actually said these things.)
Remember, Obama has changed the bill 19 times at his discretion, which is illegal. If a Republican president did that, he would be tossed out on his ear.
The Republicans only asked for the same treatment for ordinary citizens that Obama has given to businesses and his union pals.
The media is supposed to protect us from tyrannical kings. They are supposed to uncover the truth at all costs. It doesn't matter if Hilary doesn't care about the facts. It doesn't matter that vicious terrorists murders 1 year ago are ancient history but all of Obama's failures are George Bush's fault. The media is supposed to be there, relentlessly uncovering the truth.
Obama is our King, the media are all his court jesters.
