Get a tissue

I am going to tell you a story.  It is a story about a place, a place where people are free.  In this place, everyone has the exact same opportunities no matter what color or religion you are.  It is a place where Christians and Jews live side by side.  Black and white people are neighbors and they share bundt cakes.  It is a place where, no matter if you are black, white, yellow, red or purple you can work hard and be whatever you want to be.

In this land, in Florida, something happened which is completely consistent with everything that I just said.

In Florida, a young lady and gentleman were crowned homecoming king and queen at their high school.  The young people were black and had Down's Syndrome.  The picture that I saw online showed the young king and queen walking across the field.  It was adorable, but that wasn't what made me reach for the Kleenex.

Captured in the background were the homecoming court and a football player.  Each one of those young people was wearing a kind and loving smile on their faces.

Kinda like the one that you are wearing right now.
